Originally from the Isle of Man but since the early 1990's I have been living in the north east of Scotland, Nowadays I am based just 10 miles outside the eastern boundary of the Cairngorm National Park. When I'm not at work I'm often found hiking on the Cairngorm munros searching for ptarmigans or on the Scottish coast watching gannets. Failing that I'll be listening to The Blue Nile, Ryan Adams, Kandace Springs, The War on Drugs, Ben Watt or tuned in to BBC Radio 6.

The first camera I owned was a Kodak Instamatic progressing to a Praktica MTL-3 in the late seventies. After a time away from snapping I got back into taking pictures as an opportunity to record some of the sights when hiking, particularly in the Cairngorms and travelling farther afield. I am passionate about travelling, having visited many continents and countries through work and holidays although there are still plenty of places left to visit on a very long list!

Now shooting with a micro-four thirds set up for the practicality of being able to fit a couple of cameras and lenses in my rucksack and anorak pocket with the bonus of the image quality being excellent too. For those that are interested I am currently shooting with a pair of Olympus OM-D EM-1 MkI and MKII bodies. One of which is normally loaded with an Olympus mZuiko 7-14mm PRO or a Laowa 7.5mm Ultrawide. The other usually with a Lumix/Leica DG 100-400mm attached.

I have been fortunate to have some of my pictures shown on the BBC Winterwatch and Springwatch television series' as well being featured on other BBC websites. Various national, international wildlife guides and outdoor publications have also featured my pictures.

I recently had my first "cover" on the 2015 winter edition of the "Dee'n'Do" magazine, a publication based in the north east of Scotland. More recently one of my pictures was used in a two page spread of the October 2016 edition of "The Scots Magazine", the world’s best-selling Scottish-interest publication, highlighting an article written by the acclaimed writer and journalist Cameron McNeish.

Most recently I have had a picture included in the 2018 Bailies of Bennachie calendar for the month of January.
